Joshua Uhl, AIA is the principal of uhlarch.  Prior to founding uhlarch in 2016, Josh was the Design Director at Toshiko Mori Architect, where he led a range of institutional, commercial and residential projects during his 11 years with the firm.  Notable projects with Toshiko Mori include, 22 Windsor, a 300,000 square foot research facility for Novartis, the NYU campus master plan, a 22,000 square foot rooftop pavilion for the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, the 55,000 square foot headquarters research facility for the Syracuse CoE, and a number of residential homes in the Northeastern United States.  Before he joining Toshiko Mori, he worked with both Diller, Scofidio + Renfro and Maya Lin Studio.   At DS+R, Josh was a project architect for the redevelopment and renovation of the Juilliard School of Music and 65th Street/North Plaza Public Spaces project at Lincoln Center. Josh has been practicing architecture for over 20 years; he is a licensed architect in the State of New York and New Jersey.  He was LEED certified in 2009. Josh received a Bachelor’s of Environmental Design from Miami University and a Masters of Architecture from Columbia University. In addition to his work at Toshiko Mori Architect, Josh is an Associate Adjunct Professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. He has been on faculty with Columbia since 2002.
